Avon Chiropractic Healthcare

Information:

  Your first visit.

On your first visit, your chiropractor will want to talk with you, not only about your immediate problem, but also about your family history, dietary habits, other care you may have had (chiropractic, osteopathic, medical, etc.), your job, and other questions designed to help determine the nature of your condition and the best way to go about treating it. These facts will help in the interpretation of your examination findings.

A careful chiropractic structural examination, paying particular attention to your spine will be performed to detect any misalignments, fixations or other abnormalities.

  • Standard orthopaedic and neurological tests
  • Observation of posture to assess biomechanical stresses
  • Examination of individual joints
  • X-rays or imaging (when clinically necessary)

  • might also be used in the formulation of your diagnosis.

If it is decided that your condition will respond to chiropractic care, then “manipulations” or adjustments will usually begin. Adjustments consist of unlocking the spinal segments that do not move properly or are not functioning normally within their normal range of motion. To do this, the chiropractor will generally apply a gentle force by hand in a corrective manner to the affected spinal area.

In addition to spinal adjustive techniques, soft tissue techniques such as deep tissue massage, dietary and nutritional counselling, physical therapies, and lifestyle modification programs are commonly employed.

Your first visit will usually lasts 40 minutes.
